The Other door

Before I start, let me say that is not going to be one those whacky posts i usually come up with. It’s a long post of things i really wanted to convey for a long time, perhaps this might ease out my mood swings. I know it’s been quite a long time since I blogged in this place. That is purely because i have simply lost any motivation to write here because there’s not an awful lot of people waiting to read. And the souls who do read already know in first hand, what i am going to write. The Deepavali weekend that went by was pretty good. I’ve been in Chennai ever since I was born and i didnt even visit St Thomas mount once. So prior to deepavali on Thursday we visited the place in the evening. We had quite a blast watching the night sky being decorated by the infinite number of fireworks, I never knew people here had so much money. Such a marvelous place is this St Thomas mount. It’s very peaceful and close with nature! We also decided the comeback there the morning, post deepaval...

End of an Era.

Image
I entered college when Rajini’s “Shivaji” released and left when “Robo” aka “Endhiran” released. Yeah! A college life is the interval between two Rajini films :-) At least that’s what it suggests    Tuesday, the 11th was the last day I entered my college as a student. Just 10 days after this date, 3 years ago, on 21st May 2007 I enrolled myself in A.M. Jain College. 16th of June, the same year, was the first day of college. I remember entering the place as a fresher with fear of being ragged or pulling up a fight with someone. But I should say, all the chaps were kind and no one laid a hand on any of the fresher. That’s it I never looked back, with pride i can say that A.M. Jain college is ragging free.    As usual, I couldn’t find my feet in the first year. I was quite baffled at the way Madras University functioned. Then I figured out how to counter MU. The worst part is  that I couldn’t make many friends. All that changed in the 2nd year. I cracked the...

The Mystery of the Missing Black Panther

Image
It was yet another day in the life of Venky. Needless to say that it was also a jobless Sunday. I woke up and as usual did my computer namaskaram and blah blah blah. I ate some heavy Pongal and didn't have anything to do but to play FIFA 09. While i was playing FIFA 09 this happened….   I played with Arsenal and the ball went into the net and then out, rather through it. I was cheated of a goal. Why does this happen to Arsenal always . I didn’t know that this was just the tip of the iceberg. As i was drowning my sorrows drinking Aachi Mor ( Buttermilk),I got a call from my friend “Machi! come to play @ 2pm” I replied in affirmative and didn't move a muscle till it was 2.30   Operation Ven-Key It was 2.30 and i started searching for my Black panther’s key. “Amma! Where is my key” “how would I know? You are the one using it ”. After searching in vain, I went downstairs to see whether i had left the key in my Black Panther itself. Tada! First i couldn’t find the...

Pantry which made people to remove their pants

Image
Before you could think anything dirty about ‘removing the pants’, wipe any semblance of it. This has nothing to do with that kind of “removing the pants’.    Travelling by train has always been by favorite way of commuting. But eating from the pantry while travelling, a big no no . Me and my friends were on a trip to Kerala for attending one of my friend’s brother’s wedding. When we left for Kerala we had our dinner in the comfort of our home because it was a 10pm train. Little did we know about ‘The Railway Pantry’ apart from that ‘Anniyan’ Ambi (Aparichit in Hindi) refused to eat because the Rasam was watery, Papad was like kerchief and Sambar was directly disproportional to the amount of rice.    A day in the boat house in Alapuzha, attending the marriage, 3 days of good food and the act of emptying the pockets of our beloved hosts, we had a lot of fun. We had a train to board that evening . Hence we had to have dinner in the train at the m...

Looking back @ 365 days- 52 weeks- 12 months- 1 year that went by

Image
It’s been a while since i wrote something in here or let me put it this way; it’s been a while since my think tank cooked up anything. Without noticing, a year has passed since i started blogging. I have come a full circle from zero back to zero. The place looks deserted as it was a year ago and i am once again thinking of reinventing myself - Venky 3.0 It was a certain February I started off writing about cricket. I found no takers for it. What is the use if you write something people dont want? People might argue that one should write for his own pleasure. Then buddy blogging is not is not your platform you write the same in private place why the hell do you choose blogging and ponder no one visits. I found this out quite early which actually helped me. I switched to genre which i always had in me, subtly taking pot shots - Venky 2.0. I brought out the cheeky guy hidden inside me. I started my new journey with IPL’s dubious DLF maximums and strategy breaks. Then i never ...

Conquering Mt Semester

Image
My so called Model Exams starts come Monday. While the uncorrected model papers of the yester semesters still haunts everyone. I think they ended up in the nearby waste paper mart without red ink crossing those wonderfully unwritten answers  and lots of stories right from the birth of Kamal to 50th yr celebration of Kamal in Indian cinema. Ok enough of parody and getting back to business i have my semester in November. The Date has not been confirmed yet as usual as by MU (Madras University). This time it won’t be a cake walk for me. I have a mountain to climb; no i am not making a mountain of an ant mole rather from a heap of books. Just look at the size of them mate! It is surreal.   Being the Stupid that I am, I also signed up to write Clerical Exam for SBI which is also due this November. So the height of Mountain has increased by a few inches now.  I have this habit of immersing myself into books only just before the exams, to be precise a day befo...

My Rendezvous with rain

Image
It was Monday the first day of the week. As always I had Monday blues. Everything seemed to be going in the right way, until………….. it was about 5.30  in the evening. I was listening to the boring lectures waiting to get out. I never knew that what was a simple drizzle would become an incessant rain. I thought it was just another gimmick played by the rain and never knew there was a conspiracy going on to stalk me. I walked from my college to the railway station the drizzle followed me as soon as I entered the train it stopped. I started riding my Black Panther, drops of rain were falling on me. Then came my rendezvous with rain. Me: Do u always plan to piss me off. Rain: yes, of course. Me:   Please stop dripping for a while 'chal chal'. I will get in and u do your job. deal ? Rain:  chalak chalak chal chal chal(Then what is the reason I am here for, my answer is no.) Me: Look I am not in a mood to dance a solo song in rain; I am super bad at it. I am not ready to...

Solar Eclypso Calypso !

Image
I will kick things of with a "Eclypso Calypso" of mine "come on 'n ' come on 'n' in the East India come on 'n' party in the patna, ullalalala ulleyo la la la la la la leyo..........." You can take a cue from "Eclypso Calypso" if you know something about the solar eclipse taking place. The world witnessed the longest ever solar eclipse in 105 years, if you miss it, you wont probably see it again. Of course there are millions of videos available in the web. Patna is the best place to see the eclipse in india is Patna. OK let me brief you what a eclipse those who already know it take a small nap. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes in between the sun and the earth like Nandi and blocks the light makes it dark. However this happens only during new moon days and rarely a total eclipse is visible in India. It's totality phase usually lasts for 7 minutes. alright wake up guys, this is what solar eclipse is. There is more to it...

My Memoirs.

Image
I am feeling pretty nostalgic at this moment, the reason being a quiz I recent took on Facebook "How good is your memory?". No wonder that I got 92% memory. There was a certain question "Think of the oldest memory you had? how old were you?".     I have a vivid imagination of this incident. All my relatives gathered around me and were asking me to repeat some words and what i had uttered was some gibberish, remotely close to what they had asked. People say that is bollocks because you dont have a memory at that age. It turns out that I do *wink wink*. That probably was the oldest memory i have of an incident. There are quite a few which i remember like yesterday. This one when i was 2.5 yrs and before I was eligible to join a school. I was playing with my animal toys, i accidentally stepped my foot on a tomato. I ran screaming my throat out to my grandma complaining that i was bleeding. That's one of the dumbest things i have ever asked.  May be I h...

Result day Mayhem

Image
No i am not talking about the elections results or my MU results which are due to come 3 months later. But the 10th matriculation results, why u may ask, because i have sibling who wrote it. It was yet another day like every Saturday. I divinely opened my eyes in front of the computer screen and did computer namaskar and uttered "yahoo namaha", "google namaha" and started my day. I carried on the computer puja till about 8.30. Then i moved on to my other God and started doing channel abhishekam by surfing through channels. It was 9.15, my mother pinched me and told to look for my siblings results, i was arguing about govt inefficiency and its inaccuracy. Tong! hit a nail on my head, FLASH NEWS: results will be announced at 9.30AM. That was enough for my mother to make me move. So i switched from TV to computer. I looked at the results and my mother's face, it was bad. I played a bluff and said my sibling failed, face turned from bad to worse. So couldn't stan...

Venky 2.0

If you have read my previous posts all would have been nothing but cricket. . The main reason i started a blog is to be heard by everyone.I have decided to not to be too obsessed with cricket and a give other meaningful things a miss. I will now start posting on other areas and events in the journey of my life and the lessons it will teach me. No this post is not emotional nonsense but a new start to my view on life and my blog. That's right Venky 2.0, that is what i would like to call it.
